Home Energy Audit
Understand where your home is losing energy, what improvements are worthwhile, and how to tackle them in the right order.
A Home Energy Audit is an independent assessment of your home’s energy performance, building fabric and services. Rather than simply giving your home a rating, it helps you understand how the building is performing and develop a practical strategy for improving comfort, reducing energy use and avoiding costly mistakes.
Home Energy Audits from £500
What We Assess…
- Building fabric and existing insulation
- Areas of heat loss and thermal bridging
- Airtightness and draughts
- Ventilation and moisture risk
- Heating and hot-water systems
- Windows and doors
- Opportunities for insulation and other fabric improvements
- Thermal imaging where weather conditions allow
The aim isn’t simply to produce a list of possible measures. We look at how improvements interact, what should be prioritised, and in what order work should happen.
What You Receive…
Following the visit, you’ll receive a written report explaining what we’ve found and setting out practical recommendations for improving your home.
- Key issues and opportunities
- Recommended improvements
- Priorities and sequencing

Is this an EPC?
No. An EPC provides a standardised energy rating for a property. A Home Energy Audit is a much more detailed investigation intended to help you understand your particular building and make informed decisions about improving it.
Why take a whole-house approach?
Homes are systems. Insulation, airtightness, ventilation, heating and moisture all interact. Improving one part of a building without considering the others can reduce the benefit of the work or create new problems.
A whole-house approach helps ensure that improvements work together and that money is spent in the right places and in the right order.
Why Human Habitat?
Human Habitat is led by Ross Evans, a Certified Passivhaus Consultant, Certified Passivhaus Tradesperson and Level 5 Retrofit Coordinator, with around twenty years’ experience in sustainable construction and retrofit.
That combination of building-physics knowledge and practical construction experience means recommendations are considered not only in terms of calculated performance, but also how they can actually be implemented in real buildings.
